What’s next for the Republican Party?

Some think that the Republican Party is dead. If they mean as we know it I’d have to agree. Yet there is a movement that is gaining ground all across America to restore the party to it’s conservative roots. It is happening over coffee or lunch. It is happening in the audiences at Tea Party events. There is a cry to “Restore The Republic” and that cry for many involves the restoration of the Republican.

We see it in places like NY23 where the establishment just had their hat handed to them. In the past the playbook said that if a Liberal beats you it’s because the populace has shifted towards liberalism. We are then introduced through groups like the NRCC, to a gaggle of candidates that are the furthest thing from what America needs; a statesman.

This has caused division and the “base” walked away. Today though the game has changed. The Tea Party mindset that controls the thinking of many Americans will not longer vote with raw pragmatism. They believe that the time has come to install REAL not RINO candidates back into our representative halls of Congress.  The walking dead within the party just don’t see this. For too long true conservative leaders have walked away from the absurdity that has become local Republican politics. What was left? Moderates and Liberals that had a slanted agenda. What did we get? Moderate or Liberal candidates that had a slanted world view.

Some think the solution is to jump ship and work on a third party. If we had time I might be inclined to agree. However why re-invent the wheel? Whether we like it or not we have a 2 party system. Boards of elections favor the R or D candidates.  Do we have time to add an additional percentage point every year?

What about the rifts that occur in those third party groups. The Libertarian animosity towards God drove many to found the Constitution Party and I can guarantee those to groups are not going to work together any more than I’d reach across the aisle to be buddies with the Democrats. We don’t have time nor can we risk the gamble on a third party.

If the GOP has made you unhappy then do something about that. Be the GOP. In the next 2 months the Republican party in Campbell County and all across Virginia will once again choose it’s leaders. It is time for conservatives to once again reclaim the party that use to stand for Jeffersonian Constitutional Republicanism. Maybe it is time you stood up to take the reigns.

  1. I totally agree and this is the reality in Colorado as well. I say, “come on down” and make the GOP THE conservative party so we can take the country back from the brink. Your kids and grandkids deserve your full attention and effort.
