ALERT: Public Hearing – Rustburg High School – Tuesday May 15, 2012

TONIGHT at 5:30 we need everyone that can come, to show up to this hearing.

Campbell County Supervisors have plans to raise taxes. Supervisors all across the commonwealth are holding these hearings and wailing “it’s for the children” in order to get sympathy support and then move to raise taxes anyway. We’ve seen it time and again in local government and it’s happened in several counties already this year.

WHY when the residents of the county have had their wages cut, lost jobs, lost purchasing power due to higher inflation, and have less disposable income due to high gas prices, does the county government not have to endure the same hardships?

Turn out tonight! Your voice needs to be heard. Two of the most effective and ignored avenues of political change are the ballot box and the soap box. Tonight you’ll have a chance to use both of them. The Ballot box isn’t just one that you use on election day. But every day by holding YOUR representatives accountable.

I hear often about how angry people are and how frustrated they get that nothing changes. But then there is this strange apathy that prevents people from acting! Why? Will you stay home? I understand that there are legitimate reasons for not attending. But for those that don’t have any, don’t complain to me when your taxes go up!
